I attended the first Youth Conference in Prashanthi Nilyam in the summer of 1997 where I heard one of the speakers in the Poornachandra auditorium that night say... "When the hand of Sai reaches out to the people in need, they will say, Thank the Lord, you've come!"... That same night, shortly after the event was over, I collapsed from septic shock (massive infection) and was admitted to the small General Hospital for three weeks. During the first few days, while I was delerious and hooked up to IV drips, I "heard" this song percolating up inside me. Three weeks later, I was released from the hospital, having "graduated" from a wheelchair to crutches and finally to my own two feet. I returned home to the California and recorded an initial version of the song at Prema Music Studios in Santa Cruz with Lalita and Richard Karst. Lead guitars by John Alevizakis and drums by Christ Krotke were added nine years later at Little Buddha Studios in San Rafael.
